Welcome to the Military Transformation Task Force (MTTF) Business and Workforce Development Committee Forum on MadeInSATX.com.
I am Scott Gray with J. M.Waller Associates, Inc. and my Co Chair is Chakib Chehadi with Workforce Solutions Alamo. Working with the City of San Antonio Office of Military Affairs and the Bexar County Economic Development Department, we have established our priorities to be:
o Enhance Workforce Development
o Help Existing San Antonio Companies Link Up With Opportunities
o Attract Businesses to Relocate or Establish a Presence in San Antonio
o Ensure Consistent Communications between MTTF ED Committee and Local Businesses (amongst different industries)
o Work with the Requirements Generators (not necessarily in San Antonio)
o Focused Marketing and Business Development for the ED Committee
o Attract more Industry/Business People to participate on the MTTF ED Committee
o Focused PR Campaign for Economic Development Issues
We have several sub-committees each with a different view of Economic Development – and they sit at the table with us each month as we address important issues related to the Military in San Antonio and Economic Development and Drivers.
We have a diverse group of people who all seem to share the same passion – to help San Antonio be prepared for growth due to Military Related Activities, to provide a pipeline of resources for workforce solutions, to improving our education system and getting our K-12 students knowledgeable of and excited about living, going to school and subsequently working in San Antonio, to getting to word out to our community about the tremendous impact that Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) can have on a community (from a positive growth perspective) to linking our local small businesses to the Department of Defense Opportunities that are available in our own back yard. We also have the charter to ensure that all interested parties have the information about other military related activities and organizational changes so that we can come together to support.

o Real Estate/Development – Mike Dyer, Dominion Advisory Group

o Defense Technology Cluster – Kent Doster, SRC
o Construction Cluster – Kara Hill, Hill Brothers Construction
o Education – Pam Colby, Technology Fast Forward
o BRAC Actions – Ron Rogers, Deloitte Consulting and Brian Dwyer, Parsons
o Public Utility/Energy – Tom Long, CPS Energy
o Collaborative Partnerships – Jennifer Hannigan
Again – our goal is to provide information to those that are interested in San Antonio and its growth in the Military Markets and the resultant revenues that can flow to the businesses in the community.
